Defend Town From Monsters!

This was actually the first ever game that I played on Roblox. For over a decade, it was like a hazy memory for me. I remembered bits and pieces of it but by the time I started searching for it again it was long gone. It wasn't until I got older and had more experience searching for lost media that I've been able to find it again. The game has since changed drastically and is now called "Tokyo Defenders" (it's also set to private now as well making it unplayable). Here's an archived version of the game's original page.

When I first started Roblox I joined as a guest. I don't remember exactly what led to me trying out this game first, but I did, and it got me younger me hooked onto the site. I specifically remember I spent most of my time hiding away from the monsters invading the town. I spent a lot of time with this one NPC of Justin Bieber because I thought it was the funniest thing that he was in a game. I don't recall if I ever actually fought any of the monsters, though. I specifically remember the Wolf Demon, that monster in particular stuck out a lot to me in my mind. During my searches over the years I kept trying to look up "Roblox game with Giant Monsters" because I could only remember that one.

While the game is unplayable, there are quite a number of videos out there showcasing how the game played. Here is a Youtube playlist I made of every video I could find. Many of these were recorded using Roblox's now discontinued feature where using Roblox's built-in recorder let you automatically upload it to Youtube.

As the title suggests, the game revovled around you defending the town from incoming monsters every night. They came from this cave that was located outside of the town's walls. There was a variety of weapons to choose from, such as a sword or a bow, along with many upgrades for those. There were multiple shops where you could purchase such weapons or armor, which would raise your health. One building acted as a hospital where you could restore your health. There were also other random buildings in the town that had easter eggs such as a Justin Bieber NPC and one of Builderman. The currency ingame was gold and could be earned by doing obstacle courses which awarded 500 gold whenever won.

There were 5 different monster types: Shadows, Dark Fairies, Zombies, Wolf Demons, and the boss: Ancalagon. In earlier versions of the game (as seen in some of the videos), the graphical style was slightly different. The outside, originally, was also a lot smaller, and simpler in design. This was later expanded upon to be much larger, and have more of a mountainous landscape. The town also changed slightly in design as well. Originally there was more in the town, such as 2 Noobs on a couch, a group having a party with a Party Cat, as well as a swimming pool.

To my knowledge, this game didn't offer any badges.
